Archief voor September 2011

I am a big fan of LEGO and al the astonishing stuff made from it’s bricks. While not a really big fan of cars, I thought this was spectacular: A life size Ford Explorer Made from Over 382,000 Bricks!

Though if I was going to make a gigantic life size replica of a Ford vehicle, it wouldn’t be the Explorer. I would opt for muscle cat like the Mustang or maybe the Ford GT.
.
This project originated for a promotion for the new Explorer, sponsored by Ford, off-course.
Ford wants people to buy the new Explorer and since it’s a family car, a LEGO version at Legoland is a nice way to reach the parental units.

This full-size LEGO reproduction used 382,858 bricks and will be on exhibition at Legoland Florida theme park. It took 22 Legoland workers 2,500 hours to build the Explorer.
The completed LEGO SUV weighs in at 2,654 pounds, almost half the weight of the 4,503-pound real deal. Check out the real thing being built in this time-lapse video.

I just shot a tear of nostalgia when I saw this.  sh4dowww90 mods his disk drive so it plays The Imperial March.

A new great Lego app for the Iphone is LEGO Life of George. You have to build objects from George’s Live. The app will reconize if it’s correct. That way you’ll collect points and you’ll enhance to the next level.

Not a typical t2a post, but this is too cool not to mention:

Freehand Profit
has recently remixed adidas sneakers to build a creative new Stormtrooper headgear art piece. The helmet was designed specially for Star Wars Remix and is completely wearable. The Stormtrooper piece required more than two pairs of the adidas x Star Wars Superskate Mid shoes along with one EFX Studio Stormtrooper prop replica. The colorful headgear is currently available on eBay for art and Star Wars collectors alike with a potential for more on the way.
The current bid is already at $2,125.00. So i’ll pass this one ;)

Thanks Bertram for the head’s up.

Hot Toys just officially announced the long awaited and highly anticipated Iron Man series figure.
This thing is gonna be huge! Just missing a half  meter by 6 cm. We also know now, the Obadiah Stane is not a loose figure and cannot be removed from the armor. He’s only a torso with a head scuplt. However very realistic, I do not feel this prototype sculpt captures the likeness of Jeff Bridges accuratly. Since this is a prototype, still a lot can change. Just look at the Resident Evil Jill Valentine and Black Widow figures from Hot Toys.
In short: this thing is a monster, it’s heavy and it’s huge, so is the pricetag. Sideshow has it up for preorder at an astonishing $ 480!
I am excited, and I want it so I really have to save up. But I feel the price a too tall, even for this figure. Beside his sheer size, it has not much of accessoires.
.
Anytway, we’ve already seen him at the SDCC, but here are all the details:
Hot Toys is proud to present the 1:6th scale Iron Monger Collectible Figure from the movie Iron Man. The movie-accurate Iron Monger collectible is highly detailed, specially crafted based on the image in the film, highlighting a newly developed head sculpt of Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane, well equipped armor, light-up functions and weapons. Standing approximately 17.5 inches tall the Iron Monger Collectible figure makes a striking addition to any Iron Man display.

The 1/6th scale Iron Monger Limited Edition Collectible Figurine specially features:
