Lego and Star Wars are my favorite hobbies. So what better when Lego came with a Star Wars theme?
I didn’t immediately jump on the wagon, but rediscovered it a few years back.
Now it’s really getting out of hand and space is rapidly shrinking to house all those bricks.
.
Unfortunately Lego keeps coming up with great sets. I’ll give you a run down of the releases for the second half of 2011 at the end of this post.
I want to bring you the latest news about all things concerning Star Wars Lego and Lego in general. So I’ll also talk about the occasionally other franchises or other cool Lego stuff.
.
My main reason is to give my two cents about new (or old) Lego sets by reviewing them and to give Dutch readers extra information where to buy these sets in the Netherlands and provide them information about sales, discounts and prices in general.
That’s what I’m missing, more local information about Lego we love.
What else?
I want to share a few of my Lego projects.
Like, I’ve just build the Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina in minifig scale. It’s awesome. It’s big. It’s astonishing!
Check my flickr collection to see the Cantina in detail.
There’s still be a lot of improvement needed on the cantina and i’ve got a lot of plans. In the future I want to add lights, build more Tatooine buildings around the cantina and eventually try to build a whole city around it.
First, right now I’m busy making the instructions on this set. As soon there finished, off-course I’ll put them online. But It’s a hell of a job.
I have yet to build my 10212 Imperial Shuttle. Off-course my review will be accompanied with lot’s of photo’s
Which leads me to another plan I’ve got: building a massive hanger Death Star hanger for the shuttle.
And there are more plans, but I am taking one project at once and taking my time for it.
I’ll keep you all posted and updated
What about these upcoming Star Wars Lego Sets in 2011?
7956 Ewok Attack
The Ewoks sleep and is their treetop hideout on the forest moon of Endor, help the Ewok build what they need to ambush the Imperial scout trooper on his speeder bike.
Includes 3 minifigures (166 pieces)
From what I see from this picture in a ‘so-so’ set. I don’t like the new speeder bike. On the bright side, that’s two more new Ewoks. And I am curious what the tree holds in store.
7957 Sith Nightspeeder
In this original new Lego set you can build the twin-pod Sith Nightspeeder to help Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress chase after Anakin Skywalker.
Includes 3 minifigures (214 pieces)
I’m not enthusiastic about the design, but I digg the new Ventress minifig.
7959 Geonosian Starfighter
Another variant of the Geonosian Starfighter is being released in 2011. Clone Commander Cody and Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi prepare the Clone Army for another assault on the Separatists as the Geonosian Starfighter speeds toward them, ready to attack!
Includes 3 minifigures (155 pieces)
I like this new Geonosian Starfighter way more than the old one. And another Jedi to expand my collection of Lego Jedi
7961 Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator
This a third Lego set of Darth Maul’s stealthy ship to speed to the surface of Tatooine and battle against Queen Amidala’s protectors, Captain Panaka and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
Includes 4 minifigures (479 pieces)
A far better rendering of the Infiltrator than the previous ones. I like Qui-Gon Jinn’s new garments, but not sure about his new head-print. Finally a flesh-head of Padme! Huray!
7962 Anakin’s and Sebulba’s Podracers
In this set you can build the final lap of the Boonta Eve Classic Podrace, where Anakin and his rival Sebulba are side-by-side as they approach the finish line.
Includes 5 minifigures (810 pieces)
A fast improvement over the previous one. Still not sure whether to buy him. But I am looking forward to the new minifig versions of young Obi-Wan, Sebulba and off-course Watto
7964 Republic Frigate
This frigate is seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, you can assemble this craft featuring detachable escape pod, opening cockpit, rotating turbolaser cannons, retractable undercarriage and opening hatches.
Includes 5 minifigures (1,015 pieces)
It looks a lot like the earlier released 7665 Republic Cruiser. Due the size of the ship, I am only interested in the jedi
7965 Millennium Falcon
Yet another Star Wars LEGO Millennium Falcon set for a new release. This all-new Millennium Falcon set featuring hull plates that open to reveal a detailed interior, rotating quad laser cannons and detachable cockpit cover.
Includes 6 minifigures (1,238 pieces)
So far, besides the mini’s, we have the ugly 7190, the mwah 4504, the ultimate huge 10179, the small, yet cool 7778. The picture shows a fine rendering of everyone favorite bucket-of-bolts. I am curious about the real deal. And I guess this dude already has a place reserved for this set. Leia and Luke have new heir and I guess Chewie finally got a nose
