I just got around posting this announcement here. And what a better timing than Spider-man turning 50 today! It’s not long ago Hot Toys released their Spider-man figure from the Spider-man 3 movie. Just after the first trailers of the Spider-man reboot movie began emerging.
.
As my review from last year stated, the Hot Toys Spider-man from the third movie is great figure in it’s own right. It was for me, a must have within my sixth scale super-hero collection.
.
Now there’s this new one. From the rebooted franchise. I made no secret I like the redesigned costume. I think it’s has a more Kirby-feel to it than the previous Spider-man, which was technically a more accurate comic-version.
This new Spider-man is sleeker and more athletic-looking than the buff Spider-man from last year. And it feels more ‘grounded’. A better fit in a real world setting than the previous Spider-man which was part of a some what more campy world director Sam Raimi created.
.
I think it’s cool the makers had the balls to go forth with a redesign of such a iconic super-hero suit.

I’m not sure which Spider-man I want to put in front. I have to see this figure in hand to make a judgement. I like the detailing. This time there’s a head sculpt included of Peter Parker, portrayed by Andrew Garfield. And he has webshooters! The spider emblems are reminisced of the Raimi’s Spider-man, but I like that. What I don’t like are the yellow lenses and the glossy coating on the suit. But then again, I have to see it in real life.
A really big disappointment is the lack of accessories  and the price tag. Almost $50,- more than last year’s version, which had more accessories and even a cool piece of building.
This Spider-man is expected to swing by around februari, next year.

With The Avengers released over a week ago, we can now focus on the next highly anticipated super hero movie: The Amazing Spider-man.

The second, awesome, theatrical trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, from Marc Webb’s reboot of the franchise, has been released by Sony Pictures.

Just around at two and a half minutes, it features action packed scenes, lot’s of web-slinging and tons of new footage. Including the Lizard! More of the story is revealed in this trailer.

I was a bit reserved about this new Spider-man movie, but after seeing this trailer I am very much looking forward to it! Enjoy the trailer. I know I did!

The film opens July 3 in 2D and 3D and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Embeth Davidtz and Annie Parisse.

As I mentioned in my review Hot Toys Spider-man, I really like the figure. The Hot Toys Spider-man is just fun.
I recon this figure is no different. Maybe Hot Toys upgraded the figure under the water here and there, but basically for my it’s just the same Spider-man… Just Black.
…With a striking head sculpt of Tobey Maguire
…With an awesome base of Sandman
.
I think I would pass this guy. For me the reasons are:
-The price. This one is almost €80 more that the first Spider-man. I guess most have to do with the head sculpt and the huge sandman base, but come on. I am not paying over €200 for this figure.
-This is not my ‘black’ Spider-man. He was ‘ok’ in the movie, but not as iconic for me as the version in the comics is.
-I rather save my money for the Venom figure. Which I’m hoping they will announce sometime during this year.
Maybe I’ll regret it, this figure does look nice.

Here’s the official:

Ever since I started collecting sixth scale movie superhero figures I wanted Spider-man in my collection. I love Sam Raimi’s interpretation of Spider-man for the big screen. It’s very close to the comic version and full of detail. It doesn’t seem a regular guy could sew the suit by himself like the upcoming Marc Webs Spider-man costume looks like. But Raimi’s Spider-man is just cool!

I was eying on the 12″ Medicom Real Action Heroes Spider-man from the Raimi movies before Hot Toys announced they where releasing Spider-man from the Spider-man 3 movie. I was excited to hear of the prospect.
Though, when Hot Toys made the announcement, the reactions on the Internet to the 12″ Spider-man  where mixed to sat the least. Read story

Now I’ve learned the LEGO Super Heroes line will not only include the DC Comics license, but will also include Marvel Comics as well.

This is the New Goblin from “Spider-Man 3″, played by James Franco in the movie. However a cool looking figure and the awesome sculpt of James Franco, the figure is not spend on me.  It’s just not the Green Goblin I would like to see next to my Spider-Man. I didn’t like the design in the movie and I dont like it as a 12″ figure. besides, the hoover board is just to lame. I prefer The Green Goblin 1, with a little MOD on some purple cloth or Docter Octopus.
.
Anyway, Hot Toys is proud to present the 1/6th scale New Goblin Limited Edition Collectible Figurine from the Spider-Man 3 movie. The movie-accurate New Goblin collectible is specially crafted based on the image of James Franco in the movie, highlighting the authentic head sculpt, highly detailed costume, weapons and accessories.

The 1/6th scale New Goblin Limited Edition Collectible Figurine specially features:
